due to the many differences it possesses, most of which originate from the game's messy development cycle.

Dark Souls II is the story of yourself.
You, the player character, are an Undead, and have come to the land of Drangleic in search of a cure to the affliction that ails you known as Hollowing.
Despite your hopes, you arrive to find no such cure in sight. Despite this, you are given purpose by a mysterious women in green known as the Emerald Herald.
She directs you to go and meet with the King of the land, known as Vendrick.
And thus your journey begins...
